Keynote · Toward quantum utility in the manufacturing industry

Quantum computing has the potential to revolutionize the manufacturing industry by accelerating materials discovery and optimizing production processes. Many engineering, design, and production practices are based on complex systems that classical computers struggle to model accurately or efficiently. Quantum computers show promise for simulating real materials with greater precision and solving large-scale optimization problems too difficult for classical computers alone. Possible applications include battery design, predictive maintenance, quality control, and factory scheduling—critical problems that help ensure the stability, safety, and efficiency of production.

The talk will explore the potential of quantum computing in manufacturing and discuss how IBM is partnering with clients to unlock useful quantum computing.
